A contemporary and colourful bar uses Arpa® material enhancing its vibrant atmosphere

Amanzio bar in Sondrio, a mountain town in North Italy, chose Arpa high quality surfaces for its “kaleidoscopic” environment. Led by BM Italia, an interior design studio and multi-brand showroom, the project features Tuet in Caravella Dark decor and Visone pattern decor in the iconic Ghibli finish.

As Fabio Gianoli – BM Italia’s designer in charge for this project – explains, Amanzio bar is an historical benchmark for the aperitivo in the Sondrio area and has gone through three family generations. So, for the bar’s renovation development, the studio aimed to find an aesthetic solution that was more contemporary but would preserve its classic sense of beauty.

Accompanying vibrant patterns, bright colours juxtapositions between walls and furniture, bold marble finishes and flowery wallpaper, Arpa surfaces joined this rich composition embracing the space with elegance and warmth

“The idea was to introduce innovative materials with a classic feel that would also ensure strong durability,” Gianoli said.

Tuet deep surface in its dark wood decor was used for the wall boiserie. Thanks to its natural wavy rhythm, Arpa’s first deep surface gives the location a pleasant sense of dynamism and authenticity. While Visone decor, combined with the translucent chiaroscuro of Ghibli finish, transforms the perceptions of volumes shaping the bar counter with an unexpected, contrasting aesthetic.

“Tuet draws on the effects of wood ribbed texture with finer, cleaner lines. Placed in high-traffic areas, its durability protects and completes the design. On the other hand, Ghibli applied to a classic nude-nuanced colour strongly evokes the Art Deco mood of [Italian historic liqueur brand] Campari Aperol. This durable finish has allowed us to make the front of the bar both technical and compact,” Mainetti affirmed.
