Teatro Intimo, design by GGSV

Teatro Intimo is designed by the French studio GGSV, founded by Gaëlle Gabillet and Stéphane Villard. It is a micro-architecture composed of three articulated panels which define a cosy space. Halfway between a screen, a vanity table, and a desk, the object creates an intimate yet theatrical domestic dimension, where gesture and representation meet.

The piece is inspired by Renaissance writing desks, where inlays evoked architectural drawings, perspectives, and illusory openings. This project reinterprets that principle in a contemporary key using Arpa® and FENIX® materials. Arpa® Lamphun Teak with Ghibli finish, which emphasises the beauty and texture of the wood decors, is paired with FENIX® Nero Ingo, creating a stark contrast between the wooden texture and matte depth. The warm, natural tones of oak interact with the velvety black colour. This creates a layered visual depth that amplifies the real space and projects it into an imagined dimension.

“Teatro Intimo doesn’t just occupy space, it suggests depth and vision: the surfaces become a narrative device,” explains GGSV. “The matte black and the wood enhanced by the Alevé finish lend a visual dimension that extends real space into an imaginary one.”
