Playful kitchen design 

Designed for a family with a love of design and a playful aesthetic, this North London kitchen is a vibrant mix of colour and texture, unified by the calming tones of Arpa^® surfaces.

Brought to life by Studio Fabbri with Plykea and SS4 Architects, the kitchen features glossy pink tiles across the backsplash and the back of the island, paired with terrazzo worktops that add depth and character.

Flooded with natural light from garden-facing glass doors, the kitchen sits within an airy open-plan space with a rafted ceiling and parquet flooring that seamlessly connects to the living area.

In this joyful setting, the island’s sides and drawers in Arpa Bloom Rosa Bourbon, alongside wall cabinetry in FENIX^® Verde Kitami, create a sense of comfort and warmth.

Was it challenging to balance glossy tiles, terrazzo worktop and matt surfaces within such an eclectic space?

The challenge was part of the clients’ brief. By carefully layering colours, finishes and textures, the design strikes a balance—playful but refined, eclectic yet cohesive. 

How does Arpa Bloom Rosa Bourbon, paired with FENIX Verde Kitami, help in harmonising the space? 

The warmth of Rosa Bourbon balances beautifully with the depth of Verde Kitami. Together, their matt look creates a cohesive palette that feels both inviting and elegant.

How are the tactile sensations involved in the kitchen design?

Touch is central—the velvety matt surfaces, natural oak handles, terrazzo worktop and glossy tiles combine to create a kitchen that feels as good as it looks.

What did you most appreciate of Arpa materials?

Their colour depth, durability and tactile quality. They deliver a sophisticated aspect that feels playful, yet resilient enough to handle everything family life brings.
