Le Chiffonier design by Marion Mailaender
Le Chiffonier is a project designed by French architect and designer Marion Mailaender, conceived as a double storage system. Two distinct modules face each other. Two monoliths interact like towers or skyscrapers, creating a silent presence conceived as a micro-architecture. The silhouette comes from overlapping levels, which evoke the façade of a building. The protrusions hide a discreet, almost secret drawer system, recalling the balconies of buildings and generating a rhythm of solids and voids.
“Le Chiffonier is a container between object and sculpture, a true micro-architecture,” explains Marion Mailaender. “"The different levels create visual interplays of light and shadow while also offering storage spaces of varying sizes, designed to accommodate everyday objects.”
On the outer surface, the chosen Arpa® Brown Shot in Lucida finish and Homapal® Plex Aluminium metal laminate preserve their purity and change depending on the light and the vantage point. Inside the drawers, Arpa® Blue Shot in Lucida finish creates continuity with the exterior, introducing an unexpected detail.
