Open Volume, design by RedDuo Studio

Open Volume—designed by the creative interior design studio RedDuo Studio, founded by Fabiola di Virgilio and Andrea Rosso in Milan—is an object that combines sound, material, and conviviality in a compact, transformable sculptural presence. When closed, it appears as a monolith—compact and precise, defined by rigorous proportions. With a gesture, the structure opens: the doors transform into speaker panels, and the volume becomes rhythm, while a hidden bar compartment invites sharing and conversation.

“From a closed and silent volume to an open and convivial device, Open Volume is an object activated by a gesture, transforming structure into rhythm,” explain Fabiola di Virgilio and Andrea Rosso. “Sound, light, and material create a shared experience and celebrate music and the ritual and pleasure of sharing.”

The surfaces define a pure volume, clad in Arpa® Cioccolato in Lucida finish, and further enhanced by Homapal® metal laminates Alu Plain Polished Tuet Natural and Stainless Steel Brushed. The selection of decors and surfaces, both smooth and ribbed, explores the dialogue between light and material. The warm, glossy tones of Arpa® merge with the vibrant silvered surfaces of Homapal®, creating an intense balance among the volumes that compose the object.
